Certify translated documents

Hello,

I am currently filling out the online application for for PR under CEC.
I understand that I have to translate and certify copies of the documents that are in a language other than French or English.
The question is, do I need to certify the copies only to upload them? At this point, everything is just scanned and sent via web.
Will they ask for the paper versions at a later date? I would understand the necessity of certified copies then.

It's very rare that they ask for original documents, in any case you will need to hold on to your original paper works regardless, they might ask for certified copies (physical) or originals down the road.
