Certified photocopies?

I was wondering when cic meant photocopy of marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc does this have to be certified or not? On the guide it says documents are supposed to be certified photocopies but on the checklist they don ask for "certified photocopies."

I only sent in photocopies of both, nothing was certified. Yikes, now I'm worried

Regular photocopy is fine.
Generally certified copy is not required unless it states 'certified' clearly in the guide.

I had wondered about this before too... found out that it's only documents not in English or French that must be translated and certified.
