certified copies of original document need to be translated or not?

Does anyone know if the certified copies need to be translated or not? My parent is getting my documents and translations notarized in China, if my parent certifies the copies in China, I'm pretty sure the certifications will be in Mandarin, so do I need to translate them?

Or should my parent mail the original copies to me and I have them done here in Canada? That way the certification will be in English.

All documents not in English or French (in original) need to be translated by a certified translator. Yes, the translation and certification can be done here.

Note: you must check with the translator whether they need to see the original or can work from a notarized copy.

I understand documents that are not in English or French need to be translated by a certified translator, however, I'm concerned about the certified copy should be translated or not. For example, I need to have my police certificate notarized and translated in China, if I get a certified copy of the original police certificate in China, I think the certification will be in Mandarin, would that be a problem? I just want to be extra cautious so I might be overthinking it? I will be submitting the certified translation of the police certificate along with the certified copy and the notarization.

If it's not a problem, I would have it done in China and scan them and send to me digitally, otherwise I think mailing the original copy to me in Canada is the better option.

Yes, you're overthinking it. Take the docs to a translation/notarization bureau (in China or contact translators in Canada) and say you need translations with official copies of the original "for the Embassy."

They do this for a living, they'll figure it out.
