Hi again.. Once you get to read all those steps you kinda run into a lot of confusion and misunderstandings.
I am unsure about the certified copies where it says:

Certified true copies

To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:

“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
the name of the original document,
the date of the certification,
his or her name,
his or her official position or title, and
his or her signature.

What kind of documents should I have certified? Visas, Passport, ID?

Thank you!

All documents you are getting translated to english/french, need certified true copies if not submitting the original document.

If already in english/french, then just a regular photocopy will do (unless a form specifically requests a certified copy of something).

Are you the sponsor? Is your marriage certificate in English, Is the applicants police clearances, birth certificate are they in English? What visa office will you be using ?

Some visa offices want the original document, others will accept certified copies and still others accept just a standard photo copy.

The only documents that we had certified was all of our marriage documents that were translated into English from Thai. We had those documents certified by the Canadian Embassy, and Thailand's Department of Foreign Affairs.

Have to be certain as depending on the Visa office used some of them will only accept the original documents.
CEM is like that we had to Send in my wifes Original birth certificate, no copies, had to be printed directly from the NSO

Take a look at the checklist for the specific requirements for the country the applicant is from.

We had the translations and legalization (notarized) while I was there in Thailand with her back in the spring.
