Pnp is preferable for candidates applying from provinces of Alberta, BC, and Sask. I wouldn't opt for PNP if I was in Ontario though.

Hi guys,

I have been thinking over this question since the beginning of time but chose to go with CEC at the end. At first it seemed like the right decision specially because most of the people are getting PPRs with CEC in 6 months or less. But it has been 4 months for me and still no update apart from application received. I am thinking whether to apply under PNP as well as with PNP I would have the option to renew my work permit without any hassle? Although the permit expires in 2013 but I wanna play it safe. Any advice? thoughts?

i paid only the application fee not the RPRF. Yes it has been cashed out. I have my AOR but no medicals or any other request. Im just a bit worried coz i read one of the CEC apps were refused even though the applicant had 16 months of studies in a Masters program, which is equivalent to two years based on CIC website definition and same is the case for my application. Although I think my case wont be the same since my course couldn't have been completed in lesser than 4 semester (each 4 months) in the other person's case the program cud hv been finished in 3-5 terms which made the VO think that its not equivalent to two years since 3 terms were enuff for that course. I am just thinking from the perspective of having a back-up. Don't want to put all my eggs in one basket :)

Basically, processing time for CEC and PNP pretty much the same and PNP application is more secure, barely to get rejected. Just a manner of waiting time.

My suggestion: while waiting for your CEC application to be finalized, you can apply for PNP at the provincial level, which would takes some months to hear back depending on the province (Alberta is the fastest now), then if nominated you can secure your second option for PR. You will move on to PNP PR application if your CEC is rejected.

PNP rejection is next to zero! And remember, CEC is more unpredictable and the policies for this stream may change in the near future.

How long is the processing time for the initial PNP nomination? (I'll do some research in the meantime, see if I can find out)

My friends got BC nomination in 3-4 months time. May be lesser but i think that's the estimate on the website. You should check out BC PNP website.

Hi AINP, Could you please clarify on the above statement. Why did you say that you wouldn't opt for PNP if you were in Ontario ?

cuz have to pay processing fee: $1500, that's what I guess what AINP said, and right now OPNP has backlog, they can not keep first-come first-serve on basic and its policy 90 days.....

It is best to apply for the province you intent to reside.
