CEC - Two full-time jobs at the same time

Hi Folks,

I have been placed in the express entry pool and I have a good score. But there is something bugging me and I wanted to get some opinion on it.

I was a postdoc from April 2016 to April 2017, for one year. However, I started another job in March 2017 while I was still a postdoc. Therefore, there is 2 months of overlap which I was working at two different places, both full-time meaning I was working around 75 hrs per week for two months.

However, in my CEC application I only put down my work experience as post-doc which is one year, 52 weeks, 35 hrs per week. I have enough score and I will be be picked out of pool in the next draw. I did not mention my other job as my score was high enough.

Here is my question: Do I have to withdraw my application and make a new one and include my other work?

Please help.

Thanks.

What kind of work permit did you have? It's not a big deal to work two jobs at the same time in and of itself, but if you were not authorized to do that by the terms of your work permit, then you do have a problem...

No, it is not mandatory to list ALL work experience in the profile, only those which you want considered in terms of eligibility and CRS points. Later on, if you get the ITA, you will have to list EVERYTHING in your background document - but you don't need to do that for the profile.

Thanks for the reply.

I have an open work permit which I got through PGWP after I finished my Ph.D.

So once I am invited to apply, should I write a letter and explain to the officer that there is an overlap of 2 months between my jobs and I worked at two places both full-time for about two months? or should I not bother?

Thanks.

OK, good, so you're legal : ) It is not necessary to write the LOE. My only remaining concern is that you say you worked "one year." If you worked one day less than a year, you could be refused; it's much better to work a little more than a year. S

As long as you're 100% confident that the job in your existing profile meets the 1 year requirement, I think it's safe to go ahead and apply. If you're at all worried about not having 52 complete weeks of employment, then you might want to consider declining, adding your current job, and then waiting for the next ITA.
