Hi..
I am a Work permit holder, where my open work permit expires in Sept 2022, and have applied for my PR through Canadian Experience Class (CEC) in Nov 2020.. I am expecting to receive my PR in May 2021. I am travelling back to India for a month in May 2021 and returning back before the beginning of June 2021.. Will that cause any issues in me re-entering Canada, because I might not be present in Canada while receiving my PR Approval?
Thanks and Regards,
Abinav

Thanks a lot for your response @Islander216

If I understand correctly, it shouldn't impact both my reentering as well as work in Canada right? (Just clarifying)

Because as far as my knowledge goes, work permit becomes invalid once PR gets approved (Please correct me if I am wrong)

Regards,
Abinav

Your permanent residency is only official once you received your COPR and land as a permanent resident, then your other status is invalidated.

So even if you're approved for PR it won't cancel your temporary status until you validate it by landing.

I will say if ever there is any confusion at immigration at your port of entry and they ask if you want to enter as a temporary resident or a permanent resident, always choose permanent resident, then go through whatever protocol they tell you.

NO issues you are free to travel while holding a WP, provided you have a valid visa which is what allows you to get on the plane and travel (if you need one).

Your PR will very likely not come during the time you are away. Don't expect IRCC to meet the estimated 6 months timeline, it's very rarely the case.
