CEC Police certificate

Hey there,

I lived in the UK from 2005 to 2009 for my uni. I have a police certificate dated by 2010. The document checklist mentions that the police certificate generally considered to be valid for 1 year since the date issued. So, it is not valid any more. However, I haven't been there since 2009. They also mention that I can submit my application without police certificate, but need to prepare it for future request.

My plan:
Submit my old police certificate and write a letter to explain that I haven't been there since 2009.

BTW: from the CEC guide, they mention the police certificate only valid for 3 months. I am confused that which one, 3 month or 1 year, is correct.

It is a pain to apply for a new police certificate from the UK since I am not living there for a few years.

The guide says, "The certificate must have been issued no more than three months prior to submitting your application."

As for it being a pain, I guess you have to decide whether your convenience is more important than obeying the rules.

You should read the whole section. You need a new Police Certificate, a note and the old one will be refused.

Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.

I have the other police certificate which issued on 10th Oct 2011 from my home country. It seems I need a new one too.
I will prepare them and also call CIC to confirm whether it is 3 months or one year. If one year, at least I don't need to redo my home country one.

Really not that complicated. Police Certificates are valid for 1 year, but can't older than 3 months when submitted. Doesn't seem complicated to me.

i mean to get police certificates from 3 different countries are complicated.
