Hi All,

I was out of canada for 3 weeks and i was working for my company of canada from back home. I got pay stubs for that on my work permit. So will that period be counted under my CEC working hours ?

In express entry i dont have option to select date, as they accept month/year. even if i want to exclude those three weeks how could i do that, CIC might consider wrong info to gain cec points and can reject application.

I don't think that counts as a break, because the work was technically still Canada based (did your pay get disbursed to your Canadian account?)
Regardless, you can and should note that period in a covering letter where you note that there were three weeks that you were out.

I'm quite sure that counts as Canadian experience. You were abroad just temporarily - your primary residence for all intents and purposes was Canada. And trumping all that is the fact that under this current express entry system they count even one day of work in a particular month as you working that whole month. That is the reason why they only have the option to put the year and month of work. I have written proof of this from CIC through a case specific enquiry because I was getting the whole of September counted towards my points even though I began work on October 1st. All you have to do is put in the facts in the system (such as month and year you were working). It is not your responsibility how the system uses that info to assign you points. Just don't lie about anything.

It will be counted as work exp as long as those three weeks were not for vacation ( even if working in those days ) and another factor if your pay stub mentions the same info as it would in Canada and/or being transferred to your canadian bank account, if you count it as work exp then your employer will need to explain about that particular period of time while you were out of Canada in your employment letter or recommendation letter. Hope that helps. I might be able to explain more if you clear your situation/case.

No, if your letter explains all about it for example it was not vacation instead try to put it as you were out of canada for company/business/employment purposes , you have paid taxes to federal gov (pay stubs are the best source to prove that)....etc....It should be all good..But its only 3 weeks even if you don't include it won't make big difference specially when you applying under CEC because it has to be a total of atleast one year exp in last three years of applying which makes eligible for that..class...So i would recommend not include it in your app as exp but try to explain it separately...apart from exp letter and try to say that i was out of CAnada for work/business puposes ...etc...I think its better...If I were you I would't include it in my exp as long as i have atleast one year of total in last three years..Good luck..
