Hello,

I need help with the following supporting documents.

1) As per check list , No 11 says education/training/qualification in Canada: I don't have any Canadian education /training. I have done my post grad in India...Can I add my Post grad certificate? or Is this specific to Canadian educational qualification? ( I didn't see any other place asking for our educational certificates)

2) Dependent children documents: Proof for full custody : Me and my spouse are the primary care givers for our kids...our names are in their birth certificates. Is birth certificate enough for proof for full custody? Is there any other document to be attached?

3) Employment letter ( this document is really haunting me....) : My HR sent me the employment letter which is basically addressing as this :

"Attn: Citizenship and Immigration Canada" Is that Ok, Or Do I need ask him to change the Attn:

4) I read few other threads in the forum where people are talking about showing enough Bank balance ( CAD dollars). Is it mandatory? I haven't see any supporting documents mentioned in the check list?

5) IELTS - Is there any practice test site or materials available? Do we need to take any course/training for this? Though English is my second language , I have been learning since my elementary school...How easy or tough is this exam for person with English as second language? Is this only for principal applicant ? Check list doesn't mention anything about spouse....

Thx, xxxx

It is unclear to many as well. You can include a photocopy, it won't hurt. The one thing that is clear - You do not need transcripts.

2) Dependent children documents: Proof for full custody : Me and my spouse are the primary care givers for our kids...our names are in their birth certificates. Is birth certificate enough for proof for full custody? Is there any other document to be attached?

Should be OK. If it's not, others should reply...

3) Employment letter ( this document is really haunting me....) : My HR sent me the employment letter which is basically addressing as this :

LOL. It's OK, not a problem.

Many (but not all) economic applicants have to show proof of funds. CEC class applicants do not. Just flollow the checklist.

5) IELTS - Is there any practice test site or materials available?

There are many, just google.

Is this only for principal applicant ? Check list doesn't mention anything about spouse....

If it's not mentioned, it's not required.

CEC is Canadian exp class. This is applicable for people applying under the Grad category. You may submit your qualification but as jes_on said, the mark sheet is not mandatory.

2) Dependent children documents: Proof for full custody : Me and my spouse are the primary care givers for our kids...our names are in their birth certificates. Is birth certificate enough for proof for full custody? Is there any other document to be attached?

The checklist clearly states, on page 4;point #13 - that if you have the birth cert that names their parent that sgould be sufficient. Proof of custody is only required if the child is not biologically yours or if there are divorce proceeding going on.

3) Employment letter ( this document is really haunting me....) : My HR sent me the employment letter which is basically addressing as this :

not required for CEC. some ppl have claimed that it may be required during the landing, but cross that bridge when you get to it

5) IELTS - Is there any practice test site or materials available? Do we need to take any course/training for this? IELTS is not tough. but you would have to practice a bit to get used to the format. There are many practice tests avlbl online or you can download the torrents, if you need. Cambridge books are advisable to practice from.

Thx, xxxx

Hello jes_ON,

I do see mailing address and residential address in the application form. It is also mentioned that if we provide email, then all communications will be done through email. I prefer email communication (being an IT guy). Is there any disadvantage of this option? Also, i still need to provide these addresses ...Is that right? Thx, xxxx

Yes, you still need to provide those addresses, but I would generally support email communication as well. Just make sure it's an email address you would expect to keep over time (e.g. if you change jobs or move), and if there's a spam filter - check it religiously.

Unfortunately, my experience was that in spite of my giving an email address, which CIC did use, CIC nonetheless would also send stuff by regular postal mail (no rhyme or reason was apparent). It may be different today, but I would still say, apart from being required by CIC - it's essential to keep your residential and mailing addresses up-to-date if you want to receive communications from CIC.

Hello jes_ON,

Thanks for your response....Since I live in a rented property, I am planning to give my friend's address as mailing address ( his own home, he doesn't have any plans to move for another 2 years). Also, I will be filling my current address as residential address ( since I live here while applying for the PR)...later if I move out, I can contact CIC and update my residential address --- Is my understanding correct?

Also, I will provide my personal email id for all communications.

For VO office selection, Do they assign and process the application as per our selection in the application? Say, If I select 'New Delhi' (though I live in Canada), Will they send my application to New Delhi office for processing (or) they would assign a VO at random. ---Just want to understand...

After reading several threads in this forum, I get a feel that the processing time at CPP-O is lesser---your thoughts please..

Thx, XXX

If you are eligible to have it processed at New Delhi and you select ND, it will almost surely be processed there. It is NEVER random.

CPP-O as a "pilot" was very fast. Now, all Buffalo PR cases are being transferred to CPP-O. It is impossible to know how these changes will affect processing times at CPP-O.
