Hello,

Currently we are collecting the documents for CEC and planning to apply in July ( once we get Police clearance certificate from India and FBI) . Please help me with the following:

1) DOB Certificate: Me and my spouse are from India and we don't have DOB certificate ( we use secondary school certificate for DOB proof or Passport). After reading the form we applied and got the DOB certificate letter from CGI, Toronto. I am also planning to provide a cover letter along with this. Will this be enough? Or Do I need to get affidavit done by an attorney for DOB certificate? Anybody has done this before?

2) Employment letter : Is there any standard template available for reference? How recent the employment letter should be? If I am applying in July, if the letter is dated Jan/Feb- Will that be treated as recent? ( This is my current employment (continuous 2 years in Canada)).

3) In the check list, there is mention about :' Up-to-date letters of reference from the past and current employers for 3 years' - My understanding 'the reference letter' is nothing but the Employment letter ---Is that correct?

4)In Case, if the employer doesn't provide such a detailed employment letter- Can we use offer letter having the job title ( was gievn 2 years back) ,pay stubs, T4 , Notice of assessment as proof of employment .

5) My spouse is also a post graduate and also worked in Canada for almost 10 to 11 months on open work permit. Will there be any added benefit attaching her educational certificates , T4 and ROE along with my ( principal applicant) documents. The reason I am asking this question is , in the check list, it is mentioned only about Principal applicant.

I would really appreciate if somebody can help me with these queries. Thx. XXXX

Sorry..I have no clue about this one. I have read people with the same situation.I suggest you try doing a search in the forum and see if there are other people (who have already got PR) who were in the same boat as urs and seek their advice,

2) Employment letter : Is there any standard template available for reference? How recent the employment letter should be? If I am applying in July, if the letter is dated Jan/Feb- Will that be treated as recent? ( This is my current employment (continuous 2 years in Canada)).

As far as i know , In the CEC guide or in the document checklist we do not have a duration mentioned as how recent the emp letter can be.I suggest you get a recent employment letter if thats possible.

3) In the check list, there is mention about :' Up-to-date letters of reference from the past and current employers for 3 years' - My understanding 'the reference letter' is nothing but the Employment letter ---Is that correct?

Yes, you are correct.

4)In Case, if the employer doesn't provide such a detailed employment letter- Can we use offer letter having the job title ( was gievn 2 years back) ,pay stubs, T4 , Notice of assessment as proof of employment .

I dont think thats a good idea. Recent and Up to date emp letters are mandatory and I have read instances in this forum where people have submitted deputation letters , pay stubs, T4 and Notice of Assessment and still got rejected.I suggest you try and get emp letter to be on the safer side.

5) My spouse is also a post graduate and also worked in Canada for almost 10 to 11 months on open work permit. Will there be any added benefit attaching her educational certificates , T4 and ROE along with my ( principal applicant) documents. I personally think it does'nt harm to submit your spouse's documents. But still since I lack experience on this , not able to comment.

Hope I was able to help you.

There is no standard template, only that it should include all the details outlined in the document checklist.

"Recent" is not defined, however, consider this - if the letter is written BEFORE you qualify, then it does not cover all of your qualifying work experience, does it? Get a new letter after you have completed the work requirements.

3) In the check list, there is mention about :' Up-to-date letters of reference from the past and current employers for 3 years' - My understanding 'the reference letter' is nothing but the Employment letter ---Is that correct?

Yes, although "nothing but" belies the importance of the document :)

4)In Case, if the employer doesn't provide such a detailed employment letter- Can we use offer letter having the job title ( was gievn 2 years back) ,pay stubs, T4 , Notice of assessment as proof of employment .

No, the Letter of Employment is the single most important document. Draft the letter yourself to reduce the chance that your manager/employer neglects important details.

5) My spouse is also a post graduate and also worked in Canada for almost 10 to 11 months on open work permit. Will there be any added benefit attaching her educational certificates , T4 and ROE along with my ( principal applicant) documents.

No. Your spouse's qualifications are irrelevant in the CEC program, and extra unnecessary papers are, at best, useless; at worst, annoying.

Re: CEC - Help Required for NOC !!!

Hello Jes_ON,

Thank you so much for your response.

I do have couple more questions regarding NOC and employment letter.

1) I am here on a work permit, Last time when my employer extended my work permit by applying LMO. There is NOC code 2171 used in LMO document. The LMO was approved and my work permit got extended. I am planning to use the same NOC Code ( since that's my defined job) for PR. --- Any other inputs on this?

2) As per the NOC guide for code 2171 :Under employment requirement:

A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer systems engineering, software engineering, business administration or a related discipline
or
Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required.

But, my under grad and post grad both are not computer science. I was recruited by and Indian IT company ( On campus ) and trained. And I have totally 14 years of IT experience. Not sure whether this will be a problem. As far as I know there are many people changed their profession after graduating ....( no link between degree and job)

3) Also, I notice the Job titles listed in the NOC Guide for all NOC codes. Do we need to have the exact title in our employment letter?

4) For LMO process, I did receive a employment reference letter outlining my duties from employer. But, those lines are not very descriptive ( as given in the NOC guide) , they are very short and sweet...as listed below...Will this be enough for PR? or Do we need more descriptive on duties listed? Please confirm this for me.

• Design Applications
• Manage Team of 10
• Monitoring and reporting the project progress

Thanks so much for taking time and responding to my queries. I really appreciate that. Thx, XXXX
