Hi, I am right now working in Canada and would like to start the PR application processing through CEC program. I would like to know if letter from employer is mandatory. My employer will not provide such a letter to apply for PR. However, I have paystubs (indicating number of hours I worked every month), T4 and one other document that my employer used to file my work permit (which outlines my roles and responsibilities). Please let me know your thoughts if I could take a chance. I am sure some of you would have faced a situation like me, please share your experience. Any help is appreciated!

hi htrak

Even I and my friends are in similar situation where we got the letter however it does not have roles and responsibilities. When we asked we were told that this is the company approved format and they cannot give anything above that. And what's more we had couple of scary situation where couple of my friend's applications refused by telling "no roles and responsibilities" in the company letter!! I also read a similar story in this forum.

Lately I had a discussion with canadavisa.com consultation guy and I was told that if that is the case (if company cannot give a proper letter) we need to prove somehow about our employment. So we are planning to give below things;

1. Petition prepared by company for WP - It is on company letter head and has roles and responsibility and many other detail
2. Original offer letter and extension letters (if applicable)
3. Pay-stubs
4. Print out of the email from my manager which states that as per company policy this is the approved format and they can give the letter only in that format.
5. The letter I received from company (as per company approved format)
6. Cover letter explaining the situation of company letter and what extra we have submitted to prove that.

I hope this should help.

thanks

I've read a situation like you guys. How I did was, in order to reduce the employer's headache, I prepared the letter stating all the responsibilities and so forth. Then have the employer to read it and sign. Then he was totally fine and agreed with what is on the letter and have it printed it in the company letter head.

In this way, all they need to do is read and sign.
If you just ask them to write the required points which should be on the reference letter, most likely, they think it's too much work.

So try this. Also, I think the up-to-date reference letter is a MUST.
If your employer wouldn't agree to even read or sign your letter you prepare, then explain to cic why you couldn't provide the letter and submit the copies of pay stubs and the copies of LMO. On the LMO, it should have your duties in the company.

let me know how it goes. I hope the best for you.
Hopefully your employers are understanding and helpful.

The chances to be rejected due not include the employment letter are high. I would suggest you to try, with co-workers, managers- human resources and ask for Employment letter and not say Reference Letter.

To put it simple that letter is the key to the PR.

good luck,

Shad86:

In PR document checklist #9: it was mentioned to provide employer letter for recent 3 years which includes 1 year minimum in Canada. Do we need to send letters for 3 years?

Can I submit employer letter with all needed info given by India HR office taken for other purpose? Because, our supervisor/manager in Canada or HR in Canada is not giving letter by thinking we will leave company after getting PR.

In additin to Indian HR letter, I have Canada HR letter (color print if PDF sent by HR) given for my children school admission. If I send this too, will this case be success or failure under CEC ?

Pls suggest.

yes 3 years letter is needed as per checklist, so submit offer letter from India + the print out of Canada HR letter you received. You need not worry about colour print etc. As per the check list they need all copies only except PCC, language result and Application forms. So you should be fine using copies.. (In check list they mentioned if it is Copy or Original )

remember your Canada HR letter should show at least 1 year experience

all the best

Folks,

Reference letter is required only for Canadian experience in the last 03 years. The requirement is for you to provide reference letter (from Canadian employer) for minimum one year exp. or the number of hours specified.

If you have worked for 02 years outside Canada in the last 03 years, such employment letter will hold no value for this application and is not required.

Hi there,

Question for shibinp and others. I am in the same situation you were in. I have a 4 year university degree from Canada and I work for a Fortune 500 company and my employer provided me with the system generated employment verification letter but refuses to mention responsibilities and duties on it. When you applied with your supporting documents, were you approved for the application? The list of supporting documents I have:
- Employment verification letter
- Employment contract
- Copy of pay stubs
- Signed affidavit from 5 employees agreeing to the responsibilities on the job.
- Email from HR informing me that they would not provide me with the letter.
- Benefits claim statement for company paid benefits.
- Year end review

Please help and advise if I should arrange more documents.
