Hello Experts,

I want to confirm about CEC eligibility -

I have work experience in Canada from "1 Feb 2014 to 27 Jan 2015" - the CEC website says "30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)" and I worked 44 hrs per week is that mean I am eligible ?

I checked with others and with help centre and they saying Feb to Jan is 12 months so its ok.

Please confirm

No you are not eligible.

It has to be 1 full year - Feb 01 2014 to Jan 31 2015. And you can only count 30 hours / week (max) to reach 1560 hours; the additional 14 hours (/ week) worked don't count.

I tried EE eligibility tool and it says you are eligible under CEC -

Here is my case -

I worked in Canada FULL TIME (44 hrs per week) from
26 Aug 2012 to 20 Dec - 2013
/ and will going to work /
01 Feb 2015 to 27 Jan 2016 under same NOC code 2174.

Please revalidate and give your thoughts on this -

You do have more than 1 year of experience in the last 3 years. You didn't mention the experience gained during 26 Aug 2012 - 20 Dec - 2013 in the OP.

Assuming all of of your experience were full time (30hrs/week or more), you meet the work experience requirement for CEC.

yeah, missed in first post -

just clarifying things

I had experience in CA - 26 Aug 2012 to 20 Dec 2013 --> i am eligible till date 20 Dec 2015 or till date 20 Dec 2016 to apply under CEC?

if 20 Dec 2015 is eligibility date then
I am going to work from 1 Feb 2016 to 27 Jan 2017 --> the Eligibility tool ask Canada experience since last 5 or 10 year ; if I combine all above the I am eligible to apply CEC till which date ? till 27 Jan 2019?

please help me on calculations -

For CEC, the experience has to be within the past 3 years.

Today is January 18, 2016. Experience between January 19, 2013-today is valid. Experience before that will no longer count towards CEC.

That 3-year window is rolling until you apply.

If you worked 26 Aug 2012 to 20 Dec 2013, 4.5 months of that experience is no longer valid (as of today), but you can still count 11 months. But the longer you wait to apply, the less of this experience will be valid. Example, if you wait until April 19 to apply, you will only be able to count 8 months of that experience.

But since you are adding that to your work experience of 01 Feb 2015-27 Jan 2016, you meet the 1 year requirement (unfortunately, you no longer have enough valid experience for it to count as 2 years).

If you let the first work experience "expire," and want to use only the 2nd period of work - you are short of 1 year by only a few days, but less than a week. Some VOs will count this as one year, others will not.

So, my advice, if you want to be 100% sure, you should not wait too long to apply. If for some reason you cannot apply until next year, you could still try it, but the outcome is less certain.
