My post grad work permit that I got for 3 years after school is about to expire and it has been over 13 months since the processing for my CEC application started. I have been working full time for my current employer for over 3 years now (in a high skill job NOC # 2233) on a contract basis through a temp agency. My employer denied my request to submit an LMO application as they said they would have to offer me a permanent position (with benefits and all) if they were to submit an LMO for me which they do not want to do because keeping me on contract saves them from giving me benefits.
1) Do I really need to have a permanent job in order for my employer to file an LMO for me ? (I do have a job letter from them saying I am hired on a full time indefinite contract position)
2) CIC website states that it takes 14 months for a CEC application to get approved. My work permit expires almost a week after the 14 month period ends which is soon and online it states that my application is still in progress.
Can anyone suggest or recommend me the best possible way through this. From what I can see if my work permit doesnt get renewed I would lose a good job and would end up going back to my country of citizenship to wait for my immigration results.
Thanks.
