Hey Guys,

I am preparing my application for CEC. I think it will be fine to do it myself. However, I am still not sure about how to fill in some of those questions. Do you guys DIY or using agents?

Anybody is submitting their application soon? we can keep in touch and help each other.

My situation:
2 Year full time work till the end of April. Then, I plan to travel one month and then go back to my home country. I plan to submit my application before I leave. So should I choose Buffalo or my home country as my VO process office? I checked the processing time, it seems that it is 15months for everywhere.

Hope to get some replies and get a few CEC application buddies.
Cheers
Todd

I did it myself, it's easy but requires high attention to every single detail. If u'll have questions or not sure in something, call CIC agents, or get some professional advice. Or post questions here, where those who done it properly can give an advice. Using an agent or lawyer is optional for you of course. I thought in my case it could be waste of money, when I could do it myself. About location-wise, not sure... I did it within Canada, and still waiting for news here.

Thanks for reply.
I will do it myself since I will finish my work soon and will have time to spend on.

We need copies of pay stubs. I just checked my online pay information. If I copy them in detail, it will be 48 pages. So, what did you do? Just a summary like:
2012-5-1 company name $3000
2012-4-1 company name $3000
2012-3-1 company name $300

etc.

I can print all of my pay stubs on one page.

post-doctoral fellow NOC:

Post-doctoral fellows can be either the direct recipients of an award or be offered a time-limited position to undertake research on behalf of or as part of a team of researchers. Universities vary in their methods and criteria used in assessing candidates and offering post-doctoral fellowships. Officers should assess the written offer from a responsible academic official (professor or higher) which will state the amount of remuneration, location, nature and expected duration of the term of employment, and will not be concerned with the source of remuneration.
Occupational code
Given the absence of an occupational code in the NOC for post-doctoral fellows, please use the applicant‘s specialty. For example, an applicant in Earth Sciences could be coded 2113 as a geologist or 2115.2 as a soil scientist.
Please DO NOT code post-doctoral fellows as post-secondary research assistants, NOC code 4122.1, as this creates internal problems at universities and impacts applications for permanent residence, since the educational and skill levels are lower.

"Additional supporting documents may include..." == Not required.

Paystubs are extra items that you may submit if you need to (e.g. the information in your Letter of Employment is deficient, you don't yet have a T-4, or your hours worked vary from week to week). If you have all the required documents and your evidence is solid, then there is no need to include paystubs.

When choosing the visa office, you should consider the following -

1) Will you be able to send your passport to the visa office when requested? (Some countries forbid sending the passport in the mail). Also - Buffalo will only return them to US or Canadian addresses.

2) Will you be able to attend an interview at that visa office if required? (E.g. if you choose Buffalo, can you travel to the USA?)

Also, I don' t know what country you are from, but be sure which visa office serves your country of nationality for permanent resident applications -

Sorry to but in but ....the question regarding which visa office to put in the application.

Im applying for CEC after completing 1 year of work with my PGWP.

Under the Generic application form it asks

Immigration office requested for processing this application

Im currently living in Toronto, my national country is the philippines. I havent been to the philippines since I was 2.

So Im assuming I should just put an immigration office in TO?

Assuming you have been (and are) here legally - with proper residence/work visas, then yes - Buffalo.
