Is CEC going to be affected after express entry launches? My cousin just got his job in march this year and will be applying for CEC in march 2015, but very much worried what's going to happen to his application once express entry starts.

We don't know this yet. No one knows the effects the new Express Entry system is going to have
on other immigration streams.

Yes, CEC will be affected, but we don't know exactly how, or whether it will be better or worse for most applicants, will likely depend on individual experience.

Interesting snippet from one of those sources:

"Express Entry will be a mandatory first step in the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)."

So in other words... if you gained your 12 months experience on an IEC or other open work permit... too bad? Ouch.

I found this quote from the second link pretty interesting...

"Would-be applicants to the FSWP, FSTP, CEC and sub-set of PNPs, will not be allowed to make an application for permanent residence unless invited to apply."

No idea! I guess applicants who have prior Canadian work experience will be ranked higher against people who don't? At this point, I don't know why we don't have more information on Express Entry that is said to significantly change Canadian Immigration. We are only 7 months away from January 2015 and we still know no more than we did when we first learned about Express Entry (other than a name change). Hats off to Canadian immigration to spring on surprises!

Guess if we have gained Canadian experience will definitely give an edge to ply under cec but hoe the express entry is going to effect all the categories still not clear. It seems there won't be any caps but one thing I don't understand is those candidates who are working say suppose on two year contract positions in universities as research associate or posdocs as those jobs are not permanant.

hello guys, i am new to this forum.
Do any of guys know that an application submitted in november 2014, possibly by 15th of nov, will go through or do you think the cap will be filled by then?
the cap is 8000. by far close to 3000 have gone through. If you can even predict or guess or estimate taking into consideration the previous years. I am eligible under NOC 0631, managerial services. This is eating me up due to the new changes about to be implemented by jan 2015.(Express entry).Any replies would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The number (close to 3000) posted in the CIC website can be very misleading. As I understand, this number represents the total number of "complete applications" received as of the date it's updated. In other words, CIC has sent close to 3000 AORs for applications received at CIO since May 01, 2014.

Currently it takes 55/60 days to receive AOR. So the number posted in CIC's website reflects total number of complete applications received at CIO 55/60 days before the update.

So, sorry to point it out, but I don't think anyone can possibly know for sure whether the cap will be reached or not.
