Hi,

So i need 1 year continuous foreign work experience to apply for express entry. My question is I worked for 11 months then stoped for 1 month and half and then continued working in the same NOC but another company. In that 1 month and a half a friend of mine was starting a company where I helped out also as the same NOC but he paid me in cash for my services.

I came to Canada to study and now I have a PGWP, and in all my applications when asked for previous work experience I never mentioned that one month and a half because I couldn't prove it with taxes or through any government documents.

Now I'm wondering if I can mention that in my work experience on express entry, my friend is willing to provide any documents necessary to prove I worked for him. Any help or advice would be great!!

If you can prove such employment then yes, you can.

Something similar happened to an member here, he didn't mention such employment in his study/work permit applications and ended up getting a request from the officer processing his application to provide pay stubs and bank statements from such time period.

What if the payment was cash? Not transfer to my bank account.. However I did deposit it in my account myself :(

Payments in cash are common, the problem here is that you failed to mention it in your study permit so the officer might be stricter when assessing such employment.

So I should just apply and see how it goes. I mean I could get lucky right?

You need to declare that income with the tax office, as a consultant perhaps. I am considering doing the same.

My common sense tells me that whatever the tax office gives as a proof of paid taxes, will be enough. Perhaps a reference letter from the person you worked for too.

I will ask a lawyer and let you know what I find out, please let me know what you learn as well.

Sure you could get lucky, so up to you.

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits; and
if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience).
If the work experience is in Canada, proof may include copies of T4 tax information slips and notices of assessment issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (the time period for these documents should reflect the work experience timeframe [e.g., work experience from 2006 to 2008 requires only documents from those calendar years]).
