Im currently residing in the UK and have a trip planned in the end August to travel Canada for a few months. Im currently looking into purchasing a car to make my travels easier. Ive had my license for 4 years now .
Im wondering how I go about the registration and insurance? A friend I am visiting is able to purchase a used car but I would like to under my name . Is this something I can do before I get there, as in send my information over fax and such ?
If anyone has any information on this topic, I'd greatly appreciate it
Thank you

Yours is a bit of a complex scenario... will try address from the top

Firstly you can drive on Canadian roads with your British drivers license plus an international driving permit... however because licenses are provincial jurisdiction you would need to look at the provinces you intend to drive... this is an example for Alberta..

However the sticking point for you would be registering the car.. in Alberta to register a car you need a Canadian drivers licence and resident status in the province.... and if you can not register it... it therefore follows you cannot insure it...
