Career Development in Canada???

Hi all,

I am from Australia. There is great career development working in a bank in Australia as the bank have many levels of hierarchy and senior management are always willing to develop their employee's career. For example, once being a bank teller an employee gets promoted constantly. Does anybody know if this is the same as in Canada? If not, what other careers would offer swift career development.

If you allow me, I don't think it's something to do with the country but with the company itself.

A swift career development is something a company provides to employees, no matter where they are located. Or does any single company in Australia offer that to every single employee just because they are "good aussies"? Well... it's the same in Canada.

The system works very similiar in Canada. Some companies are actively working on developing internal career development/career management programs in their organizations to help employees learn how to drive their careers internally and hopefully stay with the company for 5+ years. This can be challenging for some of the Gen Y employees as they want opportunity and challenges, and if the company doesn't offer it fast enough they may leave.

You wont' find too many differences between the Australian and Canadian marketplace.

Yes I agree with you that in bank we can make a good career and I think it is same in Canada. You can also make career in other field, for it you can take help from career coaching services. They will suggest you a good career option.
