In the process of trading my current car for a new car( monthly payments), how does that work if one moves from the states to canada?

There are lots of complications in importing a car to Canada from the US. When you become PR and make the permanent move to Canada, you'll need to officially import the car if you want to get it registered/plated and insured based on your Canadian residence. This means making modifications to the car to satisfy Canadian safety standard (like daytime running headlights).

If you will be financing or leasing a car in the US, you may run into problems. Leased cars I think you can forget about importing since you don't actually own it. With a financed car you may need to buy it out before you are allowed to import it.

Yes you can drive your car into Canada without importing it (so the car will basically be "visiting"). However how do you expect to insure the car if you are permanently residing in Canada? No Canadian insurance company will insure it, and I doubt a US company will insure a car based on your new permanent Canadian address.
