I have a US license that was issued 6/29/2017.
I can't trade it in because there's < 2 years driving experience and I really don't want to go through the entire getting a driver's license process again.
I entered the country on 6/19/2018 as a visitor then applied for spousal sponsorship + OWP on October 5, 2018.
I just got approved for a work permit that's valid until 2/04/2021, so I want to buy a used car, get insurance and get a job now.
Apparently you can use your regular license for up to a year if you're not allowed to stay here permanently, should I just wait until 6/29/2019 and trade it in for a Canadian license? There's no public transit where I live, I really want to get a job though, do i get some temporary worker insurance that costs way more I really don't know how to go about this. I live in Alberta.
