Hi All,

My partner and I applied common-law visa in 2011.
They started processing my application on Nov 18, 2011 at Buffalo office. Medical result had been received.
Our current status is still in process..........We never heard where my application ended up after Buffalo office closed.
We emailed to OPP-Ottawa then received automatic reply said you are in process. We tried to call them but never be able to talk to officer.
We don't know what to do about this. We are planning to get marry and have children soon but I am still in visitor status.
Please help us!!!

Since you are passed the normal processing time, you should try to contact your MP (the canadian one) and ask him to enquire. Not all are willing to do it / helpful, but it's worth a try. They can make an enquiry about your file, and see what is going on.
You could also try to order your GCMS notes to see what the first assessment of your file said, and where they are at, if there is anything blocking the process etc. It will help you have a better idea and feel a little less "in the dark".
It seems that quite a few files got stuck in the transfer between Buffalo and Ottawa, so it's worth asking what is going on.
Hope you hear back soon,
Sweden

I must say the Nova Scotian MP is very helpful, humble, down to earth, class act, and easy to approach.

Understatement of the century so far!!! What a mess! They are in boxes in hallways and empty rooms. Sigh. CIC does promise to have them processed by summer though but we will see.

Which one in particular? Name please?

Do you think he/she would be willing to help Ontario residents?

An MP can only inquire on behalf of their own constituents on their riding. Go to the link below and enter your Canadian postcode and it will give you the contact details for your MP
