Hello all,

I applied under the FSW program - PhD stream in April 2013. I should hear back (hopefully positive) about the status of my PR application sometime this coming summer. I reside in Atlantic Canada and at the time of application I had no intention to reside in QC.

I am near to finish my PhD by this coming summer and I got a couple of job offers in Montreal (as a Post-Doc) to start in Sept. 2014. I did not get any other offers (till now) from the rest of Canada (i.e., non QC).

My question is: Will it be a problem if my family and I move to Montreal before landing in any other province other than QC? Our application for PR can be rejected/denied as we will be residing in QC? If it is a problem, can we get around it if I let my family to stay here in Atlantic Canada and I go alone to Montreal for work, until we land?

Thank you all for your help,

You're probably better off posting this to the Skilled Worker section of the forum. This section of the forum is for questions related to permanent resident card status.

My comments: You can't show a Quebec address at landing. You will have to provided a non-Quebec address for the mailing of your PR card. If you have a driver's license, make sure it's not from the province of Quebec when you land.
