Hi,

My partner (the applicant) has been recently diagnosed with cancer. We did the medical several months ago, but nothing abnormal was reported.

How do we go about this?
Should I contact directly the immigration?
Do I have to provide them with some specific documents?

My partner is currently on a temporary work visa and has access to the Canadian health care, I also have medical insurance on which my partner is one of my dependent.

Thank you for your help.

First of all, I am so sorry to hear about your partner's diagnosis. I know cancer is a tough one to deal with, and I hope you and your partner are coping alright. Secondly, I am not sure on the specifics, but you should know that spousal sponsorships are exempt from inadmissibility on the grounds of excessive medical demands - i.e. you can't be denied sponsorship on medical grounds, unless its a public health risk, which cancer of course is not. I don't know if you need to let IRCC know, and perhaps someone here can shed some light on that, but hopefully this takes some stress off an already incredibly stressful time.

In general you are always supposed to advise IRCC about any change in your family composition or health before landing.

When will your partner's work visa end? That may also ended the current Canadian Healthcare that he/she is under.
Did you buy traveler emergency health insurance? Or do you mean your work extend healthcare coverage. That doesn't cover "normal medical" that's covered usually by provincial health. Unless you are under insurance by a US employer that also cover your spouse.

Once his/her PR is approved and landed, some provinces have a waiting period. You need to look into starting to register him/her if the application is past a certain stage. So there is no "window" that your partner has coverage.
