Hi folks,

I currently have a Express Entry profile where, in my calculations, I already have 1 full year of Canadian working experience.
However, CIC's calculation doesn't match mine as they are not adding points to my Canadian working experience.

Here is what I did:
- Added 20 hours of Canadian working experience from November, 2016 to May, 2017 (the period that I was studying in RRC).
- Added more 40 hours of Canadian working experience from May, 2017 to present, marking as my current job.

Here are my hours exactly as they changed:
- From November, 28th, 2016 to May, 9th, 2017 = 20 hours per week
- From May, 10th, 2017 to present = 40 hours per week

All these hours are from the same company.

Here are the questions:

1. Should I put just one entry for that company, using a average hours per week calculation? That will be 34.33 hours per week.

2. But, if I do that, will CIC count 34.33 hours as a full-time position?

3. Or do they consider just the sum up of the hours to know if I worked a full year?

4. Basically, can you explain why I'm not getting my point for a full year of Canadian working experience?

Thanks in advance!

Have a wonderful day!

You're not eligible because you cannot count the period of work while you were a student.

You will be eligible until after May 10th, 2018.

Bingo! Thanks DelPiero!

I didn't read this section under the Who can apply:
Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (such as on a co-op work term) doesn’t count under this program.
