Canadian work visa applied in the USA

Hi all, I am Chinese and currently working in the USA. Recently, I get an offer from a Canadian employer. However, when I checked the processing time in the USA, it would take 5-6 months to complete.
Is it true? Did somebody apply for work permit in the USA before? Thanks!

That's the posted processing time for 80% of work permits for New York 5 months. Note all work permits have to be sent to New York in the US. Although their web site says a minimum of 30 days.
