Canadian wife who wants to sponsor Egyptian husband

Hi!
Wanted to share my case with you hoping that someone could help me.
I'm a Egyptian/Canadian who is married to an Egyptian husband, we are not living in Canada currently.
I need to sponsor my husband so that he can have a permanent resident or citizenship in Canada.

What I need to know:
-Should I work in Canada before applying for the sponsorship as a way of "income proof"? In other words, is it necessary for the wife to have work in Canada to sponsor her husband?
-Can I apply to sponsor my husband right after I arrive Canada or should I stay for a specific duration?
-Is it possible that my husband apply for a visitor visa to Canada and then I can apply to sponsor him once we are there? How hard is this situation?
-How long the process takes since I apply for the sponsorship? Does the duration differs according to the application status?

If you live exclusively outside Canada (such as you and husband living in Egypt), then you can sponsor your husband to immigrate to Canada and send the forms from outside Canada. Just check the CIC website, fill in the forms, provide your/his documents and your husband undergo his medical examination. For income proof, no you don't have to work in Canada in order to sponsor the husband. Just provide explanation how you and your husband would support a living in Canada once he is approved as PR. As a Canadian citizen, you can send out the forms in Egypt.

It is possible to apply a visitor visa for your husband to come to Canada, although it might be difficult because of your intention to get him PR status. If you send the forms while you are in Egypt with him, it takes generally 27 days for processing sponsorship and 19 months for processing spouse application.

But if he comes to Canada as a visitor and later try to get the PR status, then you can expect the processing times would be longer than the above.

So as I understand, I can stay the whole 19 months outside Canada waiting for the procedure? Or should I go there as a sponsor?

Another question concerning the "explanation of how we will support a living", may it be an account bank with a certain amount of money for example? Or a fixed job?
