Hi,

Is it easy to get Canadian Tourist Visa when on OPT in USA. I have been to Canada 4-5 times in last year and now my Visa is expired. How good are chances to get a Canadian Tourist Visa while on OPT? Any experience or Suggestions??

Thank You,
Tara Singh

Thanks Newtone :)

Anyway to the OP, if you are in the US with no "ties" then chances are the officer may see it as you're not going back to the US after your visit to Canada is over. But you had been to Canada several times before so the officer may probably see it as a factor of you going back to the US or your country of origin. No fool proof apps anyway so you'll never know you'd be given one if you didn't try.

Hi All,

OPT is Optional Practical Training. Optional Practical Training (OPT) is a period during which undergraduate and graduate students with F-1 status who have completed or have been pursuing their degrees for more than nine months are permitted by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to work for at most one year on a student visa without needing to acquire a work H-1B visa towards getting a practical training to complement their field of studies.

I have completed Masters and during my masters i traveled to Canada many times. Now during OPT, I will not be a student and I will be working. So My Question was regarding getting Visa while on OPT as its a temp work period and can it be a problem while gettig another Tourist Visa.

Thanks,
Tara Singh

P.S. I like the newly coined full form of OPT ... On Personal Travel (You are genius) :)

So you CAN show proof of "ties" with the US. You'd have to show proof of your employment. We are learning all the time.
