Hello,

I have a query regarding the Canadian Skilled experience that fetches 40 points. I have 1 year of skilled Canadian work experience with two different companies (but similar NOC code 2133). I worked for company A from Feb. 2016 to Nov 2016 and Company B from Nov 2016 till now.

I have not submitted my Express entry profile yet. I just want to know will I get 40 points for 1 year of Canadian work experience in my case (two different companies but same NOC code).

I would really appreciate any feedback on my query.

Regards.

Yes they do add up to 365. I left company A on 25th November (Friday) and started in company B on 28th Nov 2016 (Monday).

But the express entry does not let punching in the dates but only the months.

That's fine. Put months down and it should calculate 1 year. Just be 100% sure you have 1 year.

So basically there is not requirement of Canadian skilled work experience to be continuous with single employer for 1 year to fetch 40 points, it can be with multiple employers but should be same NOC code and continuous?

It doesn't need to be continuous or the same noc code, just that all the experience is skilled.

So to avail 40 points the experience has to be continuous but can be between multiple employers.

I'm in a similar position to you. I left one job in Canada on a Friday and started another on the following Monday, both in the same NOC code but obviously for different employers. I'm hoping that would be accepted as Canadian work experience for EE.

hi bloodrose,

have you created your ee profile?
No, not yet. I still have to do IELTS and ECA and plus my current employer are being a bit difficult over the reference letter. They gave me a letter today but it doesn't include my duties here or the number of hours that I work per week.

Have you come across such case where there is continuous skilled work experience but two different employers?

Other than my own, no. I have discussed my own case with a few people though and none of them had flagged any concerns about it. This thread was the first indication that it could potentially be a problem.

The Canada Gazette states:
(3) For the purposes of this section, Canadian work experience is work experience that

(a) is acquired by a foreign national in Canada in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;
(b) consists of continuous full-time work experience or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience; and
(c) is acquired within the 10-year period preceding the day on which points are assigned to the foreign national under subsection (1).
Well if it is continuous in the most traditional sense (1 contract, 1 employer) then it is unlikely to spread across more than 1 NOC code. My interpretation of this is there could not have been a considerable gap between the two jobs but I'm not a lawyer by any means.

If it helps another veteran member on here stated that it just means "with no breaks".
