Hi All!

Thank you for favor.

I sponsered my mother and she will come to canada for permanent residency in coming April.

Now I am working in USA as H-1B status and expect to work in USA minimum for three years.

I think that she needs my help and want to stay with me in USA.

In refernce, she is 74 years old.

If she stay with me in USA, can the time in USA be accumulated in days of Canadian Residency Obligation?

I appreciate if you advise me.

Thanks

Hi

YOu should say whether you are a PR or Canadian citizen.

I know that makes a difference when it comes to the spouse but not sure about the mother. So if you let us know about whether you are a PR or citizen, the others might be able to answer you better.
It really doesn't matter, if the mother is not residence in Canada for 2 years in every 5, she loses her PR status. It should be interesting if the US will admit the mother for 3 years.

Yes, I am Canadian Citizon. In the case, please advise if days of mother's staying in USA can be included

in days of Canadian Residency Obligation.

In reference, my mother plan to enter as visitor in USA and will extend staying in USA until my H-1B visa is

expired. As I know, it would be possible for old parent having a son (daughter) of H-1B status.

Pre-Assessed..
Your mother can not keep her PR status by staying with you in the US, unless she goes to Canada enough to fulfill the 2 in 5 years residency requirements. There are exceptions only for a PR spouse of a Canadian citizen and dependent PR child of a Canadian citizen. Not for parents.
