Canadian PR Travelling to Eastern Europe

Hello,

My wife is a Canadian PR and is planning to visit her family back in Serbia. She has her Serbian passport and most of the flights out of Toronto have a layover in Germany. I know that she can freely enter Serbia since she is still a citizen of that country but does she require any visas for instance in Germany during her layover as she flies to Serbia? My initial guess is that since she will be in the airport at all times waiting for her connecting flight, a German visitor visa will not be required during her layover in Frankfurt or Munich airport. I appreciate any information.

How did she travel to Canada in the first place? If she was required to have a transit visit, I suppose she will need that during layover in Frankfurt or Munich airport.

She entered/travelled to Canada for the first time with her permanent resident papers (COPR). She now has received her PR card. Will her PR card be suffice to allow her to land for a layover in Germany?
