Canadian PR from USA

Hi All,
I have few questions. I will like to apply to Canadian PR in skilled worker category. I am here in US on non-immigrant visa. But my spouse is in the process of applying US green card for me and himself and discourages me from applying Canadian PR. I am not sure whether it will hamper our US green card process.The thing is that I want to get my canadian PR , so that I can sponsor my brother and sister to canada, and be closer to them.

Someone (I think PMM) mentioned in this forum that USCIS mandates that the Greencard applicant declare whether they applied for the Citizenship/Residency of any other country. Also mentioned is the fact that there is a possibility the Greencard application may be rejcted because you may not have the intention to settle in the US.
