As a new immigrant to Canada, I would suggest you continue your current developer career for a little while which helps you adapt to the job market in Canada. After some time you may pursue your career dream on the functional side.

There is a website Canada Job Links (JOB-LINK.ca) where lists classified employers and job postings. If you go through the list and you view the job postings from employers.

With the current economic situation I will also suggest you start looking for job asap.

If you're teaching in Ontario you'll need to have a Teachers Certificate from the Ontario College of Teacher : http://www.oct.ca/become_a_teacher/

The site should provide you with the information you need.

The teaching field in the GTA is completely saturated. New grads are waiting 5+ years for jobs, and you can imagine how it will be for internationally educated teachers. I'm in the same boat. I have a Masters as well.
