Hi all,
I am looking for some insight. I have looked everywhere online and called the border, but have gotten nowhere!
I live in a cross-border city (Windsor/Detroit), and I recently moved to Canada last year through spousal sponsorship. I am currently a Canadian Permanent Resident (will be applying for citizenship after 5 years) and I am a US citizen.
I really want to be able to lease a car from the US because they are so much cheaper. I know it can be done, because I have seen Canadians driving US plated vehicles all over the city.
I know I would need a letter from the leasing company to approve my living accommodations in Canada (this will not be a problem). But, do I have to import the vehicle? I legally only hold one drivers license (Canadian), as it is illegal to have 2, but I still have my US address, as my family still lives there.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much!
