Canadian mom + American dad = dual citizenship baby??

I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for online... so I'm hoping someone can help me!..

I'm Canadian, my husband is American, and I'm currently in the process of obtaining my green card. I should have it by the time the baby is here (I don't know if that makes any difference).. so would our baby have dual citizenship? I know I will have to file the proper paperwork for the government to actually recognize anything, but is that it??

Yes. The baby would be eligible to have dual citizenship.

If the baby is born in Canada, the Canadian citizenship is automatic but the American citizenship depends on how long the dad lived in the US. There is a minimum stay of 5 years of living in the US, therefore 2 after age 14 to be able to pass on citizenship to children born outside the US.

If the baby is born in the US, the US citizenship is automatic but the Canadian citizenship can be passed to your child to you as long as you were either born in Canada or immigrated to Canada. If you gained your citizenship through other means which would be in the case that you were born outside Canada to Canadian parents, you would not be able to pass citizenship to your child born outside Canada.
