So will the current election have any influence over current processing times? I'm not familiar with how things go down at immigration when a new election has passed, but I'm assuming there's nothing much to implement this soon after a new PM is chosen. Anyone with more experience on the subject care to clarify?

Well, I think the elected PM designate Mr. Justin Trudeau promised a Liberal government will pay more attention on family sponsorship (spousal and parents). He would also like to repeal the C-24 bill that could possibly revoke the citizenship of a Canadian (with dual citizenship). However, it would cost him a long time to cash out these promises. At least he should first form his government and select a Minister of Citizenship and Immigration from his team.
