Hello
I wanted to ask a question about my rights as a canadian citizen? I unfortunately made a mistake and came to mexico to marry a lady and it did not work out!
I am stuck in Puerto Vallarta at this time, I also came to mexico for my physical health,as where i lived in Canada Victoria B.C. i was in awful pain with my back and arthritis, Now i have to return home, i was on disability in Canada, that has now been cut off, after 2 months gone from B.C. I have no family alive as my parents are dead,i was adopted, and have no brothers and sisters. i went to the canadian consulate today here, and the lady working there was very insulting, and was basically calling me a liar. I said i have no one just my nurse in victoria, who will verify that i have nothing. I would like to know if i have any rights when dealing with this consulate,to be treated with respect or if i have no power at all? Also i want to know if i have to return to where i was living before, in victoria b.c. as i am in agony there, from dampness, and humidity and would prefer to move to somewhere dryer in Canada, as i will have to pay this money back in the future, to obtain a new passport,i feel i should have a say in this????? asi have nothing now in Canada, no social assistance waiting for me in B.C. I have lived in Ontario and been on disability before as well. I will be on the street, hope someone can help me with this or ,let me know if there is an advocate who can maybe help me?
Most sincerely
Wayne

Well it is your right like any human being (not just Canadian) to be treated with respect. However what exactly do you want the consulate to do? And what do you want a say in ? (where in Canada you will live????)

Seems like you want them (or some member on this forum) to pay for your tickets to return back home and start your disability benefits while you are still outside Canada.. Then no unless Mexico deports you, you got to do this yourself.

You have my sympathies about your health condition, however without more information on what you want, no one will be able to help you.

Regards,

You can live wherever you want to in Canada. Once you arrive, you should contact the social services office in that city to request assistance. I don't there's anything you can do to obtain social assistance until you return to Canada.

It is normal/expected that your social assistance would be cut off once you have left Canada on a long trip. You can only continue receiving social assistance while you are living in Canada.

I'm afraid I don't understand your question about paying money back.

I am sorry i seem too of confused and upset some people here. No of course i have my passport and all legal documents! the consulate will send me back, and then i will pay back the money i owe, that is not a problem!
I wanted to choose where i am sent back to in canada, to start my life again, since i will be paying back my debt.

British Columbia has the mildest weather, you really have no other option. The extreme cold in the other provinces could make your condition worse.
