Hello everyone,
I have a question with regards to citizenshp. I have my Pr card issued on Aug 2011, but I could not move to canada due to some family issue back home. I now plan to move permanently by June 2013 to Canada. My Pr expires on Oct 2016. by which time, i would have lived for 3 years ( counting from June 2013)

My question pertains to which 3 years do I need to live in canada to be eligible for citizenship,
A) 3 years from any 4 years (of the 5 years PR Card validity)
B) 3 years from the 1st 4 years of my PR Card issue date.

As in Case A, I would be eligible to apply for citizenship by Oct 2016 (June 2013 to Oct 2016), while if Case B is correct, then when can I apply?

It's 3 years out of the last 4 years from the date you apply for citizenship.

Thanks Scylla, which means if I move to Canada by June 2013 and my PR expires in Oct 2016, I can apply for both citizenship and PR card renewal in Oct 2016 same time? by any ways does this affect my citizenship application?

It doesn't matter when you PR card expires. You can apply for citizenship at any point when you meet the 3 out of 4 year residency requirement.

However until you officially become a citizen, you must also make sure you retain your PR status by living in Canada 2 out of every 5 rolling years.
