I just wanted to know how did you guys remember all of the dates from he book?

The way to remember the dates is to understand what they mean in a bigger context. So, you do not need to learn by heart, it's more important to understand what was happening at this time, and why the specific date is important. And then remembering the specific date will become much easier.
Also, learning just the dates will create chaos in your brain. Learn by subject -- so, for example, French settlement and how did it happen and what happened there. Then -- the Hudson Bay and what was happening there, and when. The dates connected to specific people and places will then be not only some numbers without a meaning, but you will also actually know what happened. And this is how you will remember the date sort of automatically.
