I am a dual citizen living outside Canada with an expired CAN passport (in the process of renewing). I want to obtain CAN citizenship for my two children. Does my passport need to be renewed before I can apply for my children's citizenship?

You can pass on your citizenship only if you got yours by birth or by naturalization. Also, your children should be born after you became citizen. You need their birth certificates.
You don't need your passport to apply for their citizenship. You need your citizenship certificate or your birth certificate.
