4 questions for the experts out there (you know who you are):

1. Pieces of personal identification, we have to send (2). We have our daughter's passport (1), but have nothing else other than her birth certificate and bank account statements which has her name on it (would bank statements count?) There are no health cards in the UK and she doesn't driver cause she's only 3, we are stuck for a second piece of identification

2. Can I go to the police station to have my copies of passports etc... certified (done this in the past for UK passport applications)? I assume the police are an acceptable certifier

3. As I am filing out the application on the behalf of my daughter, do I need to fill in Section 11?

4. Finally, we are planning on movinh to Canada before the year is up, so need to try and get them to speed the application process up if possible. Do we just attach a covering letter with application explaing the situation?

cheers

Passport and birth certificate.

Why do you think that you need this?

3. As I am filing out the application on the behalf of my daughter, do I need to fill in Section 11?

Do you mean on form CIT 0003 (12-2011) E ?

4. Finally, we are planning on movinh to Canada before the year is up, so need to try and get them to speed the application process up if possible. Do we just attach a covering letter with application explaing the situation?

Good luck, not much speeds things up in immigration.

Since she is 3, she is just at the limit that the embassy may not issue her a temporary passport while you are waiting for the citizenship certificate. You can ask them about it though. Even if she doesn't get it, if she has a UK passport, she is visa exempt to Canada so she will be able to enter Canada with you even if she doesn't have the citizenship certificate yet.

Writing a letter can help speed things up for sure. I have heard of people getting a citizenship certificate for their kids in 2 months instead of the normal 15 because they said they have plans to move. I don't know however if they already had tickets or any other evidence to prove they were moving.

The only cases that I have heard of that were faster, involved those who had already booked travel arrangements.

Thank you all for the information thus far. As for taking the copies of the passport and birth certificates to the police station for certification, I thought they need to certified as we are not planning to send them the originals as we are planning a few trips this year and need the passport in order to travel. I assume I'm right with the assumption that the copies need to be certified?

thanks again for all the help.
