Hi all,
I'm applying for the Canadian citizenship for me, My wife, and my 7 year-old child, we all were born outside Canada.
In My child's application I have to attach her birth certificate, The problem that I think that we don't have it any more, not sure, we are still looking. Are we obligated to enclose her birth certificate with her application? or do I have to write a letter to explain that in case we didn't find it?
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi

One possibility:
You can contact your Country's Consulate/Embassy here for that service, if available. It may take a couple of weeks but well worth it..

Phew, we found it!
One more question, the original birth certificate for my child is neither in English or french, OK I will translate it, but do I have to attach a copy of the original one or just the translated one?
Thanks

In the process of translation and certification, every time that I got it done they included a copy of the document and stapled it together (certified translation, certified copy of original document, and affidavit from translator). If they don't, CIT 0002 states to include "Translation of any documents that are not in English or French and an affidavit from the translator. See section "Step 1. Gather Documents" in the instruction guide" so you'd include a copy of the original plus the translation.
