Hi All,
Can some one please share your experience, if you have gone through this scenario..

I am a canadian citizen and wanted to work in US and my wife is still an indian citizen(Applied for her canadian PR). If i get the TN visa to work in US, is there any option for my wife to work in US as well?

Your wife can join you with a TD visa (TN dependent visa) but will not be able to work. The only way she can work in US is through other means like H1B visas on her own merits.

While your wife can be in US while awaiting citizenship, be aware that chances of getting RQ get increased due to her absence in Canada.

Thanks screech339... Once my wife got her canadian PR, I wont be applying for her citizenship(I want at least one of us to keep our indian passport).

so i guess, I have to find some consultancy in US who can help her to get H1B visa to work in US?

Out of the topic, I applied for my citizenship feb 2014 and got RQ on August end and cleared citizenship exam on sep mid.. i personally feel this is pretty faster processing, when compared to my friends in Alberta, who applied nov 2013 and still no response.. :-(

Sorry for the confusion. I thought your wife applied for canadian citizenship. Anyway, as I said before, your wife can join you in US with TD visa and her PR RO will be unaffected as any days spent with you being Canadian, counts toward RO. Just be prepared to show proof of living together when your wife applies for PR travel document if her PR card expires while she is outside Canada.

I know many couples decide for one spouse to keep the citizenship of the home country when it doesn't allow dual citizenship, but presumably both members of the couple have input in the decision.

In any case, if she does apply, it is her application to make and sign, not yours.

If she doesn't pursue Cdn citizenship, she will at least be able to maintain her PR by living with you, once you are granted your Canadian citizenship.

The OP already has Canadian citizenship so his wife will be able to maintain her RO while staying with him in US.

screech339, what does RO means?
Residence Obligation. PR must maintain 2 / 5 years inside Canada to maintain PR status. Any days spent outside Canada with a Canadian spouse/common law counts toward the 2 / 5 year obligation.
