Hello,
I am a Canadian citizen. I have sponsored my spouse who is in US, on asylum and work permit. He is originally from India. Currently do not have Indian passport in his possession. He applied for Indian passport, hasn't received it since last 7 months. Sponsor eligibility is approved. Our sponsorship file is in process since Oct 5, 2020. We have got his Medical done and passed, Biometrics done in October and received by IRCC. My question is, does he need the passport eventually to get the visa for PR card, once his application is approved for PR?
Since in the sponsorship application it was mentioned that he does not have passport or any travel document and his case for asylum is going on in US. He has a valid work permit that has been renewed twice in past years since he was accepted under asylum.
What if we don't get the Indian Passport or Travel Document from Indian Consulate, what is the alternative?
Response is greatly appreciated.
