Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has any advice about our situation. I would like to either gain permanent residency or citizenship status for my children:
1. I am a Canadian citizen born outside of Canada. Other than summer holidays over the past 38years, I have not spent a significant amount of time in Canada.
2. My husband appears to be eligible for PR under the express pathway. He is a mechanical design engineer.
3. I have two children. The amendments to the first generation rules are unlikely to positively impact our chances as they have also not spent significant time in Canada.

We would all like to live/work in Canada, possibly on a temporary basis (we have good careers in the UK so it would depend on how this translated in Canada) and I wondered how long we would have to spend in the country for my husband and children to achieve PR status, and then further citizenship?

Your husband does not need to apply through Express Entry.
Since you are a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor him through Spousal sponsorship. His status would then be permanent resident.
If your children are under 22, they can be included as dependents and become permanent residents.
The Canadian government website is the best source for information about this process.

Note that you must commit to moving to Canada as part of the process.
Once they become permanent residents, your husband and children must live in Canada for at least 3 years (1095 days) out of the next 5 years before they can apply for citizenship.
