Canadian citizen looking to return for good, with UK wife

Hi there,

I hope somebody may be able to help me:

I'm a Canadian born citizen, born in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the 70's, and hold a full Canadian passport, and always have done.

As my mother was from the UK, and she brought me back as an 18month old baby, I came in on passport, and eventually I gained a certificate of patriality.

I'm now planning to return to Canada to live in Vancouver, bringing my (to be) wife with me, a current UK passport holding citizen.

As I understand it, I can easily return, I just need a social security number etc, and my wife would get a temporary residents visa? We could then apply for a permanent residents visa eventually?

Am I correct, or can someone tell me how it works?

Many Thanks

Neil

If you and your wife plan to live in Canada permanently, the best way to go about it is for you to "sponsor" her for permanent residence while you're still in England, then move together once her permanent residence visa is issued. You'll find the relevant application package and guide (which explains the process in detail) here:
