Hello everybody

Well a few things about me.I was born in Canada and moved to Greece in 1981.I've been working here as an electrician (houses, industry, maintenance) and as you all have heard about the crisis here,I'm seeking a job opportunity in Canada.

I have a lot of 1st degree relatives there (my mother's brother and sisters and also 1st degree cousins) I've been working for over 22 years constantly here and I'm unemployed for the past 3 years.

I really don't know where to start from....

Can I apply for a job or do I need someone to sponsor me?
If I state that I will be living with a relative, will that make things "easier"
Do I need a passport or visa?
What forms do I have to submit?

I've read a lot of threads here but most pinpoint to external links that confuse me more.

Just some plain insights, from the more knowledgeable would be helpful and please take it easy on me! :)

Also, I'm thinking (if I make it there) to have my girl come along. We're not married and have no kids. She's an alternative therapist (yoga, reiki etc ) and if things go well what do I need to have her there with me?

Thank you all

Chris

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you are a Canadian citizen, you do not need any visa but a passport would be good. You can contact the Canadian embassy nearest to you in order to apply for one.

You do not need a sponsor but if you are close to your relatives, you can ask them for advice on housing, jobs etc.

Looking for ads for electricians on the job bank, see http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/res-eng.aspx?ProvId=99&kwd=electrician&OpPage=50&Stdnt=No&nsrc=1 I found about 472 jobs. However, if you did not apprentice in Canada, you may have to pass an equivalency test to be able to work as one in Canada.

If you are living with your girlfriend as a couple for more than 12 months, you are considered to be common law partners by Canadian law. You can therefore sponsor her for permanent residency. If you start the process before you yourself move to Canada, you would have to show proof of moving to Canada when she gets it. Otherwise, if she is Greek and therefore visa exempt, she can come with you to Canada as a visitor and you can start the sponsorship process after arriving.
