Hi all,
I'm currently expecting and would like to get clarification well ahead of time so i don't have to do the legwork when I'll be busy with a newborn.
I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my Irish common-law. The baby will be Canadian by birth and born in Canada.
Our app is currently in process (AOR2?) and based on wait times we may or may not have to deal with the birth around the same time as PR decision making/interview/whatever CIC deems necessary.
I've advised them of the pregnancy and estimated delivery date and they said this:
"If your child has a claim to Canadian citizenship, please provide us with the following documents:
IMM5406
Your dependant’s long form birth certificate
A copy of the Canadian passport"
My question is: will the newborn passport be *necessary* or is the birth certificate sufficient?
Has anyone been though this & can help pls?
Thanks in advance!
