Canada work permit and visa stamp

Hi Folks,

I need your help.

I am on a dependent visa. My work permit and visa stamp is expiring as I was given a shorter one matching my passport expiry date. Since I have renewed my passport and need to renew my work permit and visa, I have the below questions -

1. Can I get my work permit renewed at Niagara Falls POE? I'll carry my spouses documents as she is the main applicant and has a work permit for 3 years.

2. Do I need to get my visa stamped in US as its expiring in June 2019? or can I use my existing visa and extend it once I am back in Canada.

3. How long before the visa stamp expires can you travel in and out of the country?

You can only flagpole if your from a Visa exempt country.

Hi Andy,

I have a valid US visa. Would it be a problem if I visit US for a few days and then while returning get my Canada work permit on POE?

You will have to apply for extension from within Canada. You will most likely be stuck at border if you are not from a Visa exempt country and won't be allowed to re-enter if your status has expired.

My Canadian visa and work permit is expiring in June 2019. I still have a few months before it expires.

Hello,

My closed WP is due to expire by April 2019 and my company is going for an extension and of it. Will it have any effect on PR process i am already a part of or vice versa. Any suggestions please. Or both the processes are independent and as soon as i get PR the wp status becomes redundant?

Hi Andy,
I have flag poled at least 3 times and I am not from a visa exempt country (neither to Canada or the US, and one of the times I didn't even have a valid US visa). Why are you saying that one can only flag pole if they are from a visa exempt country? Did anything change?
