Hello,

I am a Canadian citizen, living in Riyadh, KSA with my wife. I am planning to have a trip to visit Canada with my wife in June this year. My wife is a citizen of Syria (i.e Syrian). The real purpose of this trip is to give my wife the chance to know/visit the country before I apply to sponsor her through family sponsorship (immigrate to Canada). To make sure I get the visa application filled in correctly, I have some comments/questions below,

1) Questions from IMM5887E

A) Invitation letter from friends or relatives in Canada

I will be travelling with my wife to Canada and will be visiting my sister in Ottawa-Ontario. Since I am accompanying my wife in this trip, does my wife still need an invitation letter from Canada?
If YES, is an invitation through email from my sister enough?

B) Proof of sufficient funds

I will be, the husband, taking care of all the expenses for this trip. I will provide the following documents,

* A bank statement covering the last six months and showing the account balance
* Proof of employment
* A copy of my ID
* Copy of my passport front pages

Is this enough?

C) Occupation

My wife does not work.

Is this an issue ?

D) Travel information for the last 10 years

Do we have to list the details of all the places my wife visited in the past 10 years or just give a summary of the trips?

E) What are the dates of your authorized leave from your sponsor?

Since I am, the husband, the sponsor of my wife's Iqama (my wife does not work), Can you please clarify this question?
Does it mean the dates related to the vacation?

2) Question for IMM5476E

Since I am covering the entire trip expenses, does this mean I am the representative for my wife and I should fill out the form IMM5476E?

Or do you advice me to be my wife's representative and fill out the form IMM5476E?

3) Question from IMM5257E

To answer a question on the visa application, since this is the first time my wife will visit Canada and we are at the same time visiting my sister, can this visit be considered a family visit, for tourism or just a visit?

4) Question from IMM5484E

Photocopy of your marriage license/certificate
Do we have to submit this certificate or it is optional?

Anything else required/advised to have?

Thanks in advance for your help

Unfortunately there is a very high chance the visa will be refused due to the fact you're a citizen, your wife's country of origin, the fact she is living in another country temporarily and her employment status.

You will want to highlight any travel she has done to countries requiring visas (e.g. UK, US, Europe). Travel to other countries is really irrelevant.

You want to ask for a short trip. 2-3 weeks at the very most.

You can certainly say this is a family trip.

Again, I think the chances of refusal are unfortunately very high based on the factors listed above. But it's possible you may get lucky. Good luck.

Thanks for the information.

Another two questions,

Can I be my wife representative and fill out for IMM5476E?

Also,

any info about this form,

Authority to Release Personal Information to a Designated Individual IMM5475 ?

Is it the same as the representative form above? is filling out one of them enough?

Thanks
